The 7th generation Intel Core processors, codenamed “Kaby Lake,” were launched in the latter part of 2016 and early 2017. Kaby Lake represented an “optimization” stage in Intel’s Process-Architecture-Optimization model, succeeding the Skylake architecture while continuing to utilize the 14nm process technology. However, Kaby Lake incorporated an improved 14nm+ process that provided enhanced performance and energy efficiency compared to its predecessor.
