See “Purchases on eBay and Other Marketplaces” below.

Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and general location. This helps us operate the site securely, understand how it is used, and improve it. See “Cookies and Tracking Technologies” and “Technologies and Third-Party Services We Use” below.
2. How We Use Your Information

3. Payment Processing (Stripe)
Online card payments are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. When you pay, your card number and related payment details are transmitted directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or full bank account details on our servers; we retain only limited transaction information (such as an order ID, the last four digits of the card, and payment status) needed to manage your order.
Stripe may also offer Stripe Link, an accelerated checkout option that lets you save and reuse your payment information with Stripe. If you use Link, your information is handled by Stripe under its own privacy policy. We also offer Direct Bank Transfer for certain orders. Stripe’s handling of your data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
4. Technologies and Third-Party Services We Use
We use the following technologies and service providers (“processors”) to operate our website and business. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function and is expected to protect it:
- WooCommerce & WordPress — the software that runs our online store, shopping cart, accounts, and orders.
- Stripe — online payment processing (see Section 3).
- WooCommerce Point of Sale — processes in-store purchases at our Portland location.
- ShipStation — shipping, label generation, and carrier rate quotes; receives the name and address needed to ship and quote your order, which is shared with carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx) to deliver it.
- Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit) — website usage and performance analytics. Google may process this data under the Google Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — analytics that captures aggregated usage metrics and session activity (such as clicks, scrolling, and heatmaps) to help us improve site usability, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- Mailchimp (Intuit) — email newsletter and marketing service; stores the email address and name of subscribers and delivers our promotional emails, under the Mailchimp/Intuit Privacy Statement. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- WP Mail SMTP — reliable delivery of transactional emails (such as order confirmations and account notifications).
- Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — we maintain a product catalog and shop on Meta platforms; if you reach us through, or interact with, our Facebook or Instagram shop, Meta may collect information under the Meta Privacy Policy.
- Forminator — powers our contact and inquiry forms; the information you submit in a form is sent to us by email and stored so we can respond.
- Google Reviews widget — displays our publicly posted Google reviews. It shows reviews others have left; it does not collect personal information from you.
- Wishlist — lets you save products of interest to your account or browser.
- Cloudflare — content delivery network and security service that helps protect the site from attacks and speed up delivery; it processes technical data such as your IP address to route and secure traffic, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Internal order & inventory management — order, product, and fulfillment data is synchronized to our own internal business-management system used to track inventory, orders, shelf locations, and returns across our online store, in-store POS, and eBay sales.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use the following categories:

You can set your browser to alert you when cookies are being sent, or to block them entirely. If you disable cookies, some features — especially the shopping cart and checkout — may not work correctly.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only:
- With the service providers listed in Section 4, strictly to perform services for us (for example, processing a payment or shipping an order);
- With shipping carriers to deliver your order;
- When required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our customers, our business, or the public; and
- In connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or sale), where your information would remain subject to this policy.
7. Your Choices
- Marketing emails: unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any marketing email, or email [email protected]. We will still send you transactional messages about your orders.
- Google Analytics: you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Microsoft Clarity: managed through your cookie and browser settings.
- Do Not Track: where your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we honor it by not enabling optional advertising cookies.
8. Your Privacy Rights, Account Deletion, and Data Requests
You have the right to access, correct, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to receive a copy of it.
How to view or update your data
If you have a customer account, log in at oregonrecycles.com/my-account to view and update your contact and address details and order history.
How to delete your account and personal data
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time. To do so:
- Email us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account (or your order), with the subject “Delete My Data,” or call us at 503-764-9963, or visit us in person.
- Tell us whether you want us to delete your account, your personal data, or both. We may ask you to verify your identity to protect your information.
- We will process verified requests within 30 days and confirm when complete. We use WordPress and WooCommerce personal-data erasure tools to remove your information from our systems.
Please note: we are required to keep certain records even after a deletion request — for example, completed order, transaction, tax, and accounting records — for the period required by law. We will delete or anonymize everything we are not legally obligated to retain. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel open orders. Purchases you made on eBay or another marketplace are governed by that marketplace’s own data controls; contact that marketplace to exercise rights over data it holds.
California and other U.S. state privacy rights
If you are a California resident (under the CCPA/CPRA) or a resident of another state with similar laws, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money. You may browse our site anonymously, and you can exercise your rights using the contact methods above.
9. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including order fulfillment, customer service, and our legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Order and transaction records are retained for the periods required by applicable law. Analytics data is retained according to each provider’s standard retention settings.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes SSL/TLS encryption in transit, restricting access to personal data to authorized staff, and using reputable, security-audited service providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and, in the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by law.
11. Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Purchases on eBay and Other Marketplaces
OregonRecycles also sells through eBay and may sell through other online marketplaces. When you buy from us on eBay, your transaction and the personal information involved are also subject to eBay’s User Privacy Notice and eBay’s policies, in addition to our commitments here. We receive from eBay only the information needed to fulfill and support your order (such as your name, shipping address, and order details), and we handle that information under this policy. To exercise privacy rights over data held by eBay itself, please use eBay’s own privacy tools.
13. Third-Party Links
Our site may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services that we do not control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site before providing personal information.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above and post the new policy on this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
